This week we have begun a new writing project... POETRY! We have been reading poetry and now we are poets too! Today we read the book "Dogku".
The whole book is written in Haiku. We talked about how a haiku poem has 5 syllables in the first line, 7 in the second and 5 in the third. Andrew Clements put a note at the end of the book where he said that a haiku is like a small container and that "choosing a small container can help you pick the perfect words and arrange them just right". Some of us got hooked on Haiku. We will post some of our writing next week!
