This morning we went to library and learned about day and night, seasons, water, air, and recycling and pollution with Mrs. Klausen. Then it was pizza lunch. After lunch when everyone was done their Boston Pizza, everyone put their boxes in the garbage can! (All of the garbage cans in all of the classrooms were full of pizza boxes!) That caused a big problem for Mrs. Malkoske. She took our pizza boxes out of the garbage and put them in a recycling bin. After recess, we talked about it. We noticed that there was a recycling sign on the bottom of the pizza boxes. When we talked about it, we decided that if we had a blue bin with a recycling sign in our classroom, we would have recycled our boxes. Since this was problem in all of the classrooms, we decided to do something about it. We made recycling signs for all of the classrooms to remind them to recycle. We had some other ideas about what we could do too:1. Get or make blue bins for all of the classroom.
2. Pick up the garbage on the playground.
3. Make new stuff out of cardboard boxes for kids who don't have toys.
4. We talked about Vermi Worms and how they could help us to recycle food scraps.
Please help us by reducing, reusing and recycling!
